TOP 5 THINGS TO DO IN CRANBROOK

Summer Edition

Looking to build the perfect day—or weekend—in sunny Cranbrook? We’ve got you.

Cranbrook is the key city of the Kootenays, the perfect blend of big-city amenities and small-town charm. We love this place, we love the people, and we love showing it off.
Below, you'll find our top picks for summer fun: from nightlife to must-see spots, patio hangs to outdoor adventure.

By the end of your stay, we hope you’ll love Cranbrook as much as we do.

  1. Mountain Bike or Hike our HUGE Trail Network

Cranbrook has a massive variety of trails—from beginner loops and pumptracks to proper double blacks. Most of the riding here is what we’d call aggressive cross-country: cruisy uptracks with punchy descents. Perfect for trail dogs and people with large thighs. If you’re looking to rent or buy gear, head to Gerick Sports or NorthStar Bike Co.

2. Lunch on the Patio at Fire Hall Kitchen and Tap

Set in a 100-year-old retired fire station, this historic gastropub is a Cranbrook staple and a must-visit. It’s got the best patio game in town—including a rooftop self-serve patio overlooking Rotary Park. Try the Hobo, the Beef Dip, or the Pickle Poutine.

3. Cranbrook is a Disc Golf Dream

We’ve got five courses within a 25-minute drive. There’s the pitch-and-putt beginner course at Idlewild Park, the intermediate granddaddy course at the College of the Rockies, and the third-highest rated course in Canada at Wycliffe Regional Park.

4. Hit the Links

If frisbees aren’t your thing, maybe it’s time to tee up. Cranbrook punches above its weight in the golf department—and you’ll find Encore beer waiting at every course worth playing. Wildstone is just minutes from downtown and absolutely stunning. Shadow Mountain offers tough holes and jaw-dropping views. Bootleg Gap is a local favourite in nearby Kimberley, with a layout that’s as fun as it is scenic. And if you’re after a quick 9, Mission Hills has you covered. Great golf, cold beer, and bluebird skies? That’s a good day by any measure.

5. Just Straight FUN

Does your perfect summer day need an Encore? Head to Encore Brew & Bowl—family-friendly until 9, then Cranbrook’s go-to nightlife hotspot. Where else can you sip craft beer, hear live music, crush pizza, and bowl a few frames—all in one night? Whether it’s karaoke, trivia, or a surprise Wednesday concert, Encore Brewing Co. brings the good times to Cranbrook.

That’s our version of a perfect Cranbrook summer. There’s plenty more to discover, but this list should get you rolling (sometimes literally). And if you bump into one of us on the trails, at Fire Hall, or over a pint at Encore—say hey. We’re always happy to swap stories about this place we call home.
